During winter, people are more likely to put on a little holiday weight, even with this year being COVID and gatherings limited, many are actually gaining MORE weight than normal due to the increased sedentary lifestyle. It’s no surprise people aren’t super inclined to go out in sub-zero Chicago temperatures. And then excuses come pouring… “Geez, it’s so cold outside! I think I’ll be fine just staying in watching Netflix one more night or having UberEats deliver.” It’s easy to say goodbye to the gym and outdoor sports or jogging, especially when there is snow on the ground!
Second, with layers of winter clothes on, it’s easy to tell yourself, “Why do I have to stay in shape during winter anyways? Nobody can see my figure in these clothes.” So, you skip on your home workouts too.
Moreover, winter is the season for comfort food and holiday parties. There’s never a shortage of goodies to snack on. People get into a rut, chow down on food, and without any guilt, skip daily workouts because summer is still months away and think there’s still plenty of time to work on my beach body, right?
Well, the fact of the matter is, many keep making excuses and avoid getting back in shape until it is summer again and are unhappy with the way they look in swim shorts and bikinis. Stop the cycle today and get in summer shape now!
Workout at Home
If it is too cold outside, then consider working out at home. Simple exercises like the ones mentioned below are great to target your glutes and tone your tushy.
- Jumping jacks
- Leg lifts
- Butt bridge
- Fire hydrant
- Air biking/ cycling
Thanksgiving, Christmas and Year’s food and festivites have come and gone, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve shed all the holiday weight yet. Remember, a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips! If you are not working out, it’s no going to go away.
Try to stick to the foods mentioned below, as these are effective in controlling body weight.
- Lean meat
- Lentils/ legumes
- Green vegetables
- Citrus fruits
And avoid foods like:
- Fried chicken
Walk, Don’t Drive
Ditch your car if the grocery store is just a 20-min walk away. Substituting driving with walking (whenever possible) is a great way to keep your booty in shape during the winter. Brisk walking targets your glutes and upper leg muscles as well. It helps tone your butt and thighs. Studies have shown that by walking a distance of 1600 meters, on average, you can burn 372.54 calories.
So, keeping your booty in shape and ready for summer is as easy as ABC.
- Workout at home
- Eat healthy
- Walk instead of drive
If you still do all the above and do not get the results you were anticipating, have no fear other solutions are at your fingertips! Consider supplementing your already healthy lifestyle with body contouring. The average client loses 1/2 – 2 inches PER SESSION! It really is the jumpstart many need to get on the right track!
